2. What Data We Process

• User account: email address, display name, and encrypted password hash. When signing in via Google: email address and basic profile information provided by Google.
• Newsletter “The Short”: email address provided at sign-up.
• Reading data: article reading progress linked to your account (the “continue reading” feature) — technical data necessary for this functionality.
• Technical data: standard server logs and essential cookies required to maintain your logged-in session.

3. Purposes and Legal Bases

• Account management and content access — Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract for the provision of an electronic service).
• Newsletter “The Short” — Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent), which may be withdrawn at any time.
• Security and proper functioning of the website — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest of the Controller).

4. Retention Period

Account data is retained for the lifetime of the account and until its deletion. Newsletter data is retained until consent is withdrawn (unsubscribe). Technical data and logs are retained for the period necessary to ensure security, then deleted or anonymised.

5. Recipients and Processors

Data may be entrusted to trusted service providers acting on behalf of the Controller, in particular: the hosting infrastructure provider, the email delivery service provider, and — in the case of Google sign-in — Google as an authentication service provider. These entities process data only within the scope and purpose specified by the Controller.

You have the right to: access your data and receive a copy; rectification (correction) of your data; erasure of your data; restriction of processing; data portability; object to processing; withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal); lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (PUODO), ul.
